Why Liverpool should offload Ryan Kent

According to a report in the Independent, Liverpool’s Ryan Kent is keen on forcing a move to Rangers to reunite with Steven Gerrard due to the fear of a lack of playing time after a fantastic spell for the Gers last season.

The report states that the 22-year-old winger will not be allowed to join Rangers on loan to ensure they have a backup if any of the senior forwards suffer from an injury. Kent has only made one senior appearance for the first-team in an FA Cup tie in 2016.

The position taken by the club and Jurgen Klopp, according to the report, is that he’ll be sold for a fee but not on loan as he’s far too old to still be jumping clubs. Kent was the Scottish young player of the year, having scored 6 goals and registering 6 assists in 23 League games.

He was particularly impressive in the games against bitter rivals Celtic, having scored in the home and away fixtures against Celtic. Kent does most of his work predominantly on the left-wing, which is currently taken up by Sadio Mane and deputized for by Divock Origi. Kent’s chances will be limited with Liverpool looking to challenge on all fronts once again.  

He has a fantastic attitude, doing the hard yards as a team player and also providing attacking returns. Steven Gerrard is clearly a fan, seeing him as an important cog in his side to help break the dominance of Celtic in Scotland, who are looking to win their 10^th league title in succession.

Liverpool have got the likes of Rhian Brewster, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, Adam Lallana in the forward positions and Kent will find it hard to get much game time while they’re still around and it would be best for Rangers, Liverpool and Kent to find a solution that helps all parties.

Liverpool have got 6 points from their opening games and have also won the UEFA Super Cup but they’ve been far from convincing.

Many external factors such as players coming back from tournaments in the summer have had a part in that but they’ll have to do better to continue dominating like they did last season and we’ll know more about their resolve when they face Arsenal on the weekend.
