Liverpool Player Ratings For The West Ham Game – Sturridge Arrives As Sterling Continue To Impress

Share

Anfield witnessed yet another victory as the home side drubbed Sam Allardyce’s West Ham United with a thumping 2-0 scoreline. The visitors could not bring any prodigious opportunities to pass at, whilst, Rodgers and Company forged on with their exorbitance to put together a credible performance to outclass the East London club with ease. As Liverpool gets the better of the Hammers in an emphatic match-up, SoccerSouls would like to have a peek into the player performance index of the home side from Super Saturday’s match-up:

Simon Mignolet (6.5/10): Did not have really much to do in the box. Relatively untested the whole afternoon.

Mamadou Sakho (7/10): While Skrtel was given the job to deal with Andy Caroll, Sakho was calm and collective alongside him. Had a decent outing.

Martin Skrtel (8/10): Yet another superb performance by the Slovak. Faced with the demanding task of keeping a check on his former teammate. Seemed to enjoy his aerial battles with Caroll as Anfield witnessed the typical Skrtel in action.

Emre Can (7/10): Targeted by Caroll on two occasions, however, the German refused to be subdued. Seemed a bit unsteady in the initial hours of play, nonetheless, got down really well as the game progressed.

Lucas Leiva (6/10): Efficient at the park. Pitched in right to reinforce the Liverpool play, however, seemed to lack in movement at times. Good but nothing really exceptional.

Alberto Moreno (6/10): Moved forward and gelled in quite well with Coutinho down the left. Provided a great assist which eventualized in to an opener by Sterling. Other than that, the Spaniard did not really stir up the Hammer’s defence to a great extent.

Jordan Henderson (6.5/10): Made quite a number of free kicks from propitious positions which did not really impose much of a threat to the West Ham line up. Seemed quite down in his energy levels in the initial hours of the game, however, picked up as the match progressed. All in all, a decent enough performance from the stand-in skipper.

Lazar Marković (6/10): Lanced into the center and seemed vulnerable on few occasions.

Philippe Coutinho (9/10): Magical performance from the Brazilian. Sublime in his possessions and strong in his tackles. Perfectly weighted that reverse pass on which Sterling scored the opening goal. Undoubtedly, the most dangerous attacking threat in the Reds’ line up.

Adam Lallana (6.5/10): Gave a leg up with Coutinho from the right. Kept it tidy down the park. Overall a decent performance from the Englishman.

Raheem Sterling (8.5/10): Took the West Ham defence for a toss with his agile maneuvers. Provided the first breakthrough for the Reds. Yet another solid performance from the rookie striker.

Substitutes:

Daniel Sturridge (8/10): The stage was all set for Sturridge to come out and the Englishman did it in style. Came on to replace Marković in the second half of the game and struck a beauty for the Reds. Did not seem out-of-touch by any means. Undoubtedly, a big boost to Liverpool for the rest of the Premier League campaign.

Jordan Ashley Ibe (5/10): Substituted Coutinho. Did not have any substantial impact on the game towards the end.
