Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had told Joe Allen that he cannot be promised first team football anymore. With abundance of midfielders in the Reds’ team, it is only natural that Allen would not enjoy the importance like before.
Sevilla had emerged the most likely destination apart from Swansea and Celtic, who too were interested in the player. Knowing the demand for midfielders in the transfer market, the club had set a price tag of £15 million for Allen. However Estadio Deportivo has reported that a deal between Sevilla and Liverpool has broken down due to the asking price of the 26 year old. Sevilla has already lost Ever Banega and Grzegorz Kryochowiak to PSG and Inter recently. Allen would have been a suitable replacement for the Europa League winners if not for the asking price.
Allen has had a fine season last year with 37 appearances and also his performance in Euro 2016 has seen his market value rise.
