Liverpool Legend has Urged Brendan Rodgers to Stop Tinkering With the Squad

According to reports, Liverpool legend Ray Houghton has stated that he feels that the Reds need to have more consistency in their play. Also, he has urged Kop boss Brendan Rodgers to stop tinkering around with his starting XI. The Premier League side have failed to find their feet till now, though they completed the signing of a number of good players in the summer transfer window, who have failed to click till now.

Currently at 13th place in the points table after Sunday’s sloppy 1-1 draw with newly-promoted side Norwich, it seems that the Kop boss could be sacked sooner or later. Further Houghton who made over 200 appearances for the Merseyside club and lifted trophies during his time at Aston Villa and Oxford United, claims pressure will mount of the side if they don’t start winning.

On the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, the former midfielder stated, “What Liverpool need is for the players to understand each other on the pitch. At the moment the team is changing every week, Brendan is changing the balance of the team every game, so what Liverpool need is a bit of consistency. I hope they play a strong team [against Carlisle]. Virtually all the big players played for Man City against Sunderland last night, so there’s no reason why Liverpool can’t do the same. Play a strong team, get the players understanding each other’s game, and then you take that from one game to the next. [The pressure on Rodgers] is mounting game-by-game. The more you go without winning, the worst it becomes. What they really need is a really strong performance and not just tonight. This has got to be the first result in a really good run. They’ve done that before and they’re more than capable of doing it. They need to get a good win tonight and take that form into the weekend against Aston Villa. They’ve struggled against Villa in the past, and even with Villa struggling for form themselves, Liverpool really need to start winning games.”
