Liverpool Latest Including: Suarez And Skrtel

The Luis Suarez transfer saga is a never ending epic and each moment is bringing us with a new twist. The latest reports suggest that the striker is now interested to hold talks with the club about his future after he has understood that his Arsenal dreams are all but over.

The Uruguayan played an important part in his country’s victory against Japan yesterday and in the next 24 hours he will be back at Anfield. He will hold discussions with manager Brendon Rodgers as he seems to have understood that there is not much for him to do rather than to stay with the Merseyside club.

It states that Suarez is ready to display his commitment once gain to the club and start training. Rodgers had earlier made him to train alone as he failed to apologize to his teammates for his behavior. Albeit he will not be able to feature in the first six games for the club as he is serving a ten match ban for biting Chelsea defender Ivanovic last season. But these reports of Suarez wanting to continue discussions regarding his career at Anfield would certainly please the club management and the fans alike.

The Guardian reports that: Brendan Rodgers will seek clarification from Luis Suárez on his future intentions in the next 48 hours, with Liverpool hopeful the striker has come to accept he will not be sold this summer.

In other news, defender Martin Skrtel has insisted that he is willing to stay at the club and compete with others for a place in the starting eleven, in spite of falling down the pecking order of manager Rodgers’ choice. He is aware of the challenge that lies ahead of him after Liverpool have bought Kolo Toure this term on a free transfer, but this does not bother him much.

“I think it’s always good when there is competition for places and it’s very important for your performance”, he said to LFC TV. “The manager will decide who is in the best form and start that player. I’ll do my best and all I can to make sure that I’m the one he’s going to be starting with. Of course I will try to improve this season because I missed the second part of last season. I tried to do my best in the pre-season and show the manager I am able to play, so we’ll see how it goes this season.”
