Mexican International Hector Herrera is considered to be one of the top box to box midfielder’s in the world and Liverpool are looking to strengthen their squad in January by pushing for his signature now that he can be purchased for a lower price in the winter transfer window.
As considered to be as one of the most complete and versatile midfielder’s, Hector Herrera has not been living up to expectations at his club in Porto. Below average performances have seen Herrera drop to the bench on more than a few occasions.
Scoring just one goal this season in 15 games (all competitions), compared to his nine goals and four assists in 29 league games in the previous term, Herrera has dropped out of favor with the Estadio do Dragao faithful and although Herrera himself states he wants to stay at Porto the club may sell if the offer is priced right.
Reports claimed that Juventus, Napoli and Liverpool are keenly observing the South American but the Reds are ahead of the pack. Herrera would be sold for a release clause of 40million euros but due to his contract he can be bought at half the price during the winter transfer window and the Reds can finally purchase their target for cheap.
As far as creativity is concerned, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are well equipped with attacking midfielder’s and the signing of Herrera may not be ideal nor crucial at this point of time given their stature and quality in midfield especially.
