Liverpool And Manchester United Combined XI Featuring 6 Reds & 5 Red Devils

Share

The titans of English football, and one of the fiercest rivals in the country take each other on for a game that could prove to be very crucial for both teams’ top four finishing hopes. Liverpool have had a great surge in form since they last faced Man Utd and would want to continue the form which saw them beat Manchester City. The Red Devils have struggled with consistency this season but were tremendous in their victory against Tottenham and would want to boost their own chances by beating off rivals. Here is the team combined of both the teams’ players.

GK: David De Gea (Man Utd)

Amazing throughout the season, the Manchester United stopper has been key to their performances, and has contributed in victories by helping his team hold narrow leads and dig in for points and results. He is in the form of his life.

DEF: Emre Can (Liverpool)

While technically he is not a defender, he has stepped into the role very effectively and has provided balance and technique to Liverpool’s back three. He has been a revelation this season.

DEF: Chris Smalling (Man Utd)

Always slated for poor performances, but the United lad has been in decent form in the past few games. He would hope that his confidence is not shattered by Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling.

DEF: Mamadou Sakho (Liverpool)

Sakho has easily been Liverpool’s  best central defenders with his composure and solidity. He has adapted very well to the three man defense and has been an integral part of a team that has stopped leaking goals at the back.

MID: Joe Allen (Liverpool)

He has been a quiet and consistent performer for Liverpool this season. His partnership in deep midfield with Jordan Henderson has been tremendously efficient in providing balance, solidity as well as the attacking impetus while having a passing build-up. His defensive work and diligence is commendable.

MID: Daley Blind (Man Utd)

Regardless of him being played as a Left Back or as a defensive midfielder, Blind is expected to be an important part in driving the midfield forward. His passing has been excellent and the work he puts into guarding the defense has been important.

MID: Jordan Henderson (Liverpool)

The Liverpool vice-Captain has been in fine fettle in the past few games and has had a strong influence on the team. His form has been key to Liverpool’s winning tactics. He applies his mind on the pitch and has the work rate and stamina to be influential for the whole game. Man Utd would need to keep a watch on the Englishman.

MID: Phillipe Coutinho (Liverpool)

Another Liverpool player who has simply sky rocketed to his best form. He has been dictating the final third with his flair and has been responsible for the creative spark that they boast off recently. He is likely to be in some great battles with Man Utd’s defense and defensive midfield.

MID: Ashley Young (Man Utd)

It would be fair to say that over the past three games, Ashley Young has been excellent and in better form than Liverpool star Raheem Sterling, who has gone a bit dry since his strong performance against Man City. Young has been a bright spark in United’s attack and would pose a threat down the wings.

FWD: Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool)

He may or may not start the game but he is likely to feature as an important part of the game. He is a lethal finisher who has had an injury hit season, but given his scoring prowess, he is likely to score provided the midfield is creating enough chances.

FWD: Wayne Rooney (Man Utd)

Without a shade of doubt, United skipper Wayne Rooney is proving time and again that his best position is that as a forward. Due to Falcao’s miserable form and van Persie’s injury, Rooney has started playing the striker’s position and has not disappointed.
