A List Of Premier League Players Who Are In The Last 6 Months Of Their Contract – 4 Chelsea And 3 Arsenal Players In The List

Share

The New Year is upon us and with it the January Transfer Window too. Many teams in the Premier League will be looking to bring in reinforcements to their squad to further their hopes of achieving their desired goals. While it may prove difficult to sign big names in the winter window, there are plenty of players around, who are in the last leg of their contracts with their current clubs and may become available for cheap.

Title frontrunners Chelsea have 36-year old John Terry in the last six months of his existing deal. The Blues’ captain has hardly featured for the leaders since September, and with no negotiations begun, it remains to be seen if Terry will remain at Stamford Bridge for the next term.

Spaniard Santi Cazorla finds himself in a similar situation at Arsenal, with speculations rife over his future as he enters the final stage of his contract that he signed in 2015, with the Gunners. Another big name on the list is Manchester United’s Michael Carrick. The Englishman was sparingly used by manager Jose Mourinho earlier in the season, however, he has become a key cog for the Red Devils in recent weeks and has been one of the main reasons for United’s resurgence at the end of the year. Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract with United will also expire at the end of the season, however, the Red Devils are certain to exercise the one-year extension offer on the Swede’s current deal.

Elsewhere, title contenders Manchester City have 6 first-team players who are in the last six months of their current deals and given that all the stars are over 31, it may very well happen that not many will receive new contracts. Strugglers Hull City and Crystal Palace have the most number of players (9) approaching the end of their contracts, along with Stoke City, whereas Tottenham, who renewed a whole lot of players’ contracts at the year-end, have none.

Across Europe, the biggest names that are nearing the end of their contracts. Fernando Torres’ second stint at Atletico Madrid is drawing to an end along with Thiago Silva of Paris Saint-Germain.
