Most Likely Liverpool Line Up To Face Manchester United – Sturridge Back To Lead The Line

Share

Probably the biggest clash in the Europa League round of 16 clash in the history of the competition sees Manchester United travel to Liverpool for the first leg. Both clubs had to deal with playing with 10-men in their last outing but Liverpool came out with a crucial 2-1 win while United succumbed to a 1-0 loss against West Brom.

Liverpool were able to play the game by resting a few players, though Philippe Coutinho was part of the team in the second half as Christian Benteke came on late to win a penalty and score for the Reds.

With so much riding for the Reds in this competition, we predict the starting line-up for Liverpool who will be looking to beat Manchester United for the first time under Jurgen Klopp.

Simon Mignolet

Mignolet might not be the best goalkeeper in the world but he was excellent in the game against Crystal Palace and surely will be expecting a similar performance against United.

Nathaniel Clyne

Clyne was rested against Palace and should be raring to go against Manchester United in this game.

Dejan Lovren

The man of the match against Palace, Lovren has looked excellent under Klopp and he needs to have a good game for Liverpool to ensure they come out with a good result.

Mamadou Sakho

Sakho was another player who had a good game against Palace and should continue in his role in the heart of the defence.

Alberto Moreno

Alberto Moreno was bombing up and down the left hand side for Liverpool and will be looking to take on a United team that hasn’t been doing all that well in recent games.

Emre Can

Emre Can was on a mission to beat Palace on his own and he was magnificent in midfield for the Reds, he should be playing against United, not two ways about it.

James Milner

Milner was the culprit against Palace and maybe dropping him would be a good move but Liverpool don’t have Lucas on board and thus the England international keeps his place.

Jordan Henderson

The Captain was one of the players out of form in the game against Palace but he must start for Liverpool against Manchester United.

Philippe Coutinho

Another player who came on as a substitute against Palace, Coutinho would be crucial to Liverpool’s chances of winning the game.

Roberto Firmino

Roberto Firmino has now scored seven goals in his last eight games and will look to find the scoring touch against Manchester United as well.

Daniel Sturridge

Liverpool were able to rest their star striker against Crystal Palace and a fit and fresh Sturridge could well fire the Reds to a win over their big rivals.
