Leicester simply have to rebuff Tottenham’s interest in rising young 21-year-old English prospect – agreed?

Leicester City opinion: Foxes should keep hold of Barnes amidst interest

According to a report in Leicestershire Live, Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes has been closely scouted by Tottenham Hotspur over the past month or so.

The England U21 international has been a regular in the Foxes team ever since he arrived at the King Power Stadium from his loan spell at West Bromwich Albion.

As a result, his positive performances have attracted interest from Tottenham. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have been looking at other young players as well, including the likes of Kieran Tierney and Jack Grealish (h/t Leicestershire Live).

Here’s why Leicester should keep hold of Harvey Barnes beyond this summer:

Barnes is a talent Leicester must use as much as possible

Harvey Barnes has had a more than decent season so far, be it for West Brom before January or for his parent club Leicester since the turn of the year.

He has scored nine goals and supplied eight assists combined for both clubs. Furthermore, he is just 21, hence, has a lot to learn and offer in the coming seasons.

Under Brendan Rodgers, Leicester must aim to keep their exciting young talents and groom them to be world-beaters. Thus, they must use that DNA and keep hold of impressive youngsters even if other clubs are looking at them.

In case of Barnes, he signed a new contract at the King Power Stadium before the start of this season. So, keeping hold of the 21-year-old wouldn’t be a really tough job.

From Leicester’s viewpoint, it makes complete sense that they keep hold of Harvey Barnes. A young talent is always an asset to the team and there’s no question of whether they should keep hold of the player or not.
