According to a report from The Sun, Leicester City are interested in signing Brighton defender Lewis Dunk, as Brendan Rodgers contemplates over Harry Maguire’s replacement.
The Foxes centre-back is heavily linked with a summer exit, with Manchester United and Manchester City as potential suitors. Meanwhile, the Cityzens have been asked to splurge an excess of £40m in order to get the services of Dunk.
The 27-year-old has been a staple for the Seagulls over a long course, playing more than 200 games.
However, the Englishman stepped foot in the Premier League only in the 2017-18 campaign. Despite a sluggish first season in England’s top-flight, Dunk started to show promise, eventually winning the first national cap for the Three Lions in 2018.
He has appeared in almost every single game for Albion and played a crucial role to avoid relegation.
Maguire has become an integral part of the Foxes and finding his replacement would be a dire task for Rodgers. The 26-year-old is the real motif of how to rise through the ranks.
He bagged the Foxes’ Player of the Season award in his debut campaign and that speaks volumes about his capabilities.
Yet, Dunk looks an optimistic option, given his wealth of experience with English football. Furthermore, the English centre-back turned out as one of the positives for Albion amidst a disappointing season.

Dunk’s stats in last season’s Premier League were rather impressive, as he averaged a pass success percentage of 83. He also averaged 5.4 clearances and 3.3 clearances per game, a little reminder of how significant he was for the Seagulls.
The Foxes had a great finish to the 2018/19 campaign, especially after the arrival of Rodgers.
Now, the former Celtic gaffer is presented with a huge task of filling the void of Maguire should he opts an exit this season. With that being said, the Foxes shouldn’t have second thoughts about signing Dunk, who comes with a reasonable price tag and tons of experience as well.
