Latest Chelsea FC Transfer Updates : Falcao, Fellaini and Ashley Cole in January Speculation

Share

Come January, Chelsea could be pretty active in the Transfer market seeing players come in and go out of the club.

Falcao :

Firstly, the ever long Falcao move : Chelsea were linked with the Athletico Madrid Striker for the later parts of the Summer Window and henceforth. Chelsea currently have only Torres and Sturridge available for the Striker role while their title rivals – the clubs of Manchester, both have 4 strikers each. And it is fair to say that any of the 8 strikers of both United and City has been better than Torres and Sturridge this season.

After losing both Drogba and Anelka last season, everyone expected Chelsea to buy at least 1 striker but that did not happen. It was either something Di Matteo missed to see or probably had too much faith in Torres as he also let go of Lukaku on loan. Chelsea made a great start to the season thanks to their dangerous midfield but in recent games, they seemed to be drained out and hoped their strikers did a little scoring for a change. But sadly, Torres’ woes at Chelsea are going from bad to worse as the Blues are now linked to a move for Athletico’s Falcao in Januray.

Despite being linked with clubs like Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, Falcao is now destined for a switch to Stamford Bridge at the turn of the year.

The European champions are believed to have sealed a £46m for Falcao and it is believed that personal terms have already been agreed on a deal that is likely to make the striker one of the highest paid players in Premier League history.

Fellaini :

Chelsea are preparing a £30 million bid for Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini in January. The powerful Belgium international has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for some time and it is reported that owner Roman Abramovich has sanctioned a massive offer.

Fellaini has been in impressive form so far this campaign, already scoring six goals to help Everton to their current fourth place.

After the departure of Drogba, Chelsea have not quite played the “find the target man” style this season. Having worked so well for many teams last season including Drogba for Chelsea, Van Persie for Arsenal and Ronaldo for Madrid just to name a few, Everton have done the same this year with Fellaini. David Moyes converted the deep lying playmaker into a versatile player capable of not only playing the defensive midfielder role but also as a box-to-box midfielder, attacking midfielder and a false #9.

Fans would love to see Fellaini play either in front or behind the trio of Mata-Hazard-Oscar or in fact put pressure on the position of those 3.

Ashley Cole :

Fan Favorite-Almost a Club Legend-One of the Best left backs in the world, what else can a club ask for? Yet Cole finds his position at Chelsea not very stable. It’s not that there is a young superstar putting immense pressure on his place at the club (no offence to Bertrand but he needs at least another 1-2 years time).

The 31-year-old’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of the season and talks appear to have stalled as a result of Chelsea’s policy of not offering longer than one year deals to players over the age of 30.

With statements from many sources including Cole’s mother that “Ashley Cole will be off to Paris St Germain at the end of the season” it looks quite unlikely to see Cole in Blue in the near future.
