La Liga Game Week 6 Roundup

Barcelona continue to stay at the top of table with two ahead of Atletico Madrid, while Real Madrid move up to 6th place with a 5-1 over Deportivo. And there was plaenty of other absorbing games and goals over the weekend. Here is a complete roundup of game week 6.

Sevilla 2-3 Barcelona

A brace from Fabregas saved the day for the Catalans

In form Sevilla gave the league leaders a real scare as they lead by two goals until the 50th minute before a brace from Fabregas and a last minute goal from David Villa saved the day for the catalans. Barca are heavily missing their center backs as their replacements Song and Mascherano, clearly lacked qualities of a regular center backs. Sevilla were unlucky to have stripped down to 10 men after an unhealthy behavior from Fabregas which led to the dismissal of midfielder Gary Medel and from there it proved difficult for the home side and eventually Barca took the game away from them. This means that Barca are now 4 points clear of third place Malaga and 8 clear of Champions Real Madrid. Barca face Madrid in El Clasico at the Nou Camp next weekend.

Real Madrid 5-1 Deportivo

Ronaldo’s party at Madrid

A five star performance from the Champions led by Cristiano Ronaldo’s hattrick and a couple of goals from Di Maria and Pepe. However it was Deportivo to score the first goal at the 16th minute mark only to be cancelled out by Ronaldo’s penalty 5 minutes later. Xabi Alonso got a much needed rest ahead of mid week Champions league clash and his replacement Khedira did a decent job. The game also saw the return of Mesut Ozil for as he replaced injured Essien which meant Modric had to play a deeper role which the Croatian played with at-most ease. The pair combined excellently in the middle of the park and it was a treat to the eyes. Real Madrid are showing signs of improvements ahead of two important clashes against Ajax and Barcelona which they cannot afford to lose. Mourinho’s press conference after the game also pointed out the same:

“It was a league match, it’s three points and we will analyse it tomorrow, as with every match, and draw the necessary conclusions…We have the feeling that we need to concentrate on ourselves. To keep improving and growing and win the league matches that we have. We are thinking about Wednesday’s match and afterwards we will think about the Barcelona match.”

Malaga 4-0 Real Betis

Another good performance from the young Spaniard Isco

Malaga climbed upto 3rd place with an energetic performance over Real Betis and it was Isco who once again proved why he’s the leading young Spaniard in La Liga. Malaga took an early goal around 11 minutes when Betis goalkeeper Casto made a poor challenge to bring down Eliseu inside the box and the penalty was sweetly converted by Joaquin. From there Malaga had no problems and rounded of the game with a delighfull goal from Isco as he chipped the ball above substitute goalkeeper Adrian to make it 4-0. Malaga has been magnificent so far this season and the financial troubles they had in the summer looks to have long gone.
