Predicted Aston Villa line-up to face Yeovil Town in the League Cup

Aston Villa face Yeovil Town in a League Cup tie away from home as Steve Bruce’s look to continue their winning start to the season. Villa defeated Hull City 3-1 and came from behind to beat Wigan Athletic 3-2 to begin their quest for Premier League promotion in a fine fashion.

Manager Steve Bruce doesn’t have a big and wide squad in terms of first-team players to rotate for this midweek game. It will be interesting to see whether he turns to youngsters for this game. He will most certainly have an eye on the weekend game against Ipswich Town, so there might be less chance of a full-strength eleven at the Huish Park.

Team News

Keinan Davies and Scott Hogan are on the injury list while Ahmed Elmohamady and Jack Grealish may get some time off. Youngsters like Rushnian Hepburn-Murphy and Andre Green may get a chance to shine.

Probable Aston Villa XI

Manager: Steve Bruce

Orjan Nyland (GK)

Nyland should keep his place in the team as the number one goalkeeper for cup games too. He has been decent for Villa thus far.

Axel Tuanzebe

Axel Tuanzebe (RB)

The loanee from Manchester United was impressive in the last game against Wigan and might get one more chance to shine.

James Chester (CB)

Villa are a little short in the centre-back department, so Chester should continue playing in that position.

Tommy Elphick (CB)

Was benched for the last game against Wigan but should regain his place for the midweek clash with Yeovil Town.

Neil Taylor (LB)

Alan Hutton has played two games so far and might need some rest, hence, Taylor can slot in at left-back.

Henri Lansbury (CM)

Wasn’t in the squad on Saturday, so it might be his chance to play this cup tie and impress the manager.

Glenn Whelan

Glenn Whelan (CM)

The experienced midfielder was on the bench after playing well last Monday, he is expected to start ahead of John McGinn or Birkir Bjarnason.

Andre Green (LM)

The youngster started against Wigan and was pretty decent, so Steve Bruce should be tempted to give him another chance.

Albert Adomah (RM)

Adomah was benched for the previous game after under-performing against Hull City. Hence, the manager could start him this time and hope for a positive response.

Rushian Hepburn-Murphy (SS)

The teenager has been knocking on the door for an opportunity and this may be his chance to showcase his talent.

Jonathan Kodjia

Jonathan Kodjia (ST)

The striker should play from the start again and look to score, having failed to find himself on the scoresheet in the first two games.
