Klavan And Origi Starts – Predicted 4-3-3 Liverpool Line-Up To Face Manchester United

Share

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are still without a victory in the New Year and things will only get tougher as they now face a daunting task with a trip to the Old Trafford lurking at the weekend. The manager will not be happy with his team’s recent performances but will hope that the occasion can get them back to their best. But United, who are now on a 9 game winning run, are not expected to make life easy for the Reds and will surely go for the kill. With just 5 points between them and the top spot, Klopp will know that a slip up at this moment can cost them the whole season. So he is expected to go in with a strong side. Here is the predicted lineup that he might field for this game:

Team News:

The Reds will miss the services of Sadio Mane, who is busy in the AFCON and Danny Ings, who is out injured. Philippe Coutinho got a few minutes under his belt in the League Cup and is expected to start this game while Jordan Henderson and Joel Matip are just back in training and may only find a place on the bench.

Expected lineup (4-3-3):

Simon Mignolet:

Though his deputy, Karius, put in a decent shift in the League Cup, Mignolet is currently the first choice for Klopp and should start at the weekend.

Nathaniel Clyne:

One of the most consistent players for Liverpool at the back, Clyne will have a huge role to play at the back to keep United away from goal.

Dejan Lovren:

With Matip still out, Lovren will shoulder the responsibility of being the senior defender in the side for this trip to the Old Trafford.

Ragnar Klavan:

Though he gave away the goal in the League Cup against Southampton, Klavan has been decent at the back for the Reds and will be up against Zlatan in this game against United.

James Milner:

Another player who has been productive for Liverpool this season, Milner has made the left-back position his this season and should keep his place in the side for this game.

Emre Can:

The German midfielder has not been effective in the last couple of games but in the absence of star players, he should start this weekend for Liverpool.

Georginio Wijnaldum:

The Dutchman has been decent in the midfield for Liverpool this season but he should be at his best if Liverpool are to take anything from this game.

Adam Lallana:

The in-form player for Liverpool this season, Lallana is expected to start in the midfield for Liverpool on this trip to the Old Trafford.

Roberto Firmino:

With Mane off to the AFCON, Firmino might have to play on the wing and should start on the right in this game against United.

Divock Origi:

The Belgian is currently the quickest attacker in the squad and Klopp should go with him to add some dynamism in his side’s play on the night.

Philippe Coutinho:

Though failed to have an impact in the League Cup as a substitute, Coutinho is a star player, who has in the past won games for his side and Klopp will hope that he can weave his magic on the night and give Liverpool all three points from this crunch tie.
