Chelsea, Manchester United and Other EPL Biggies: Why You Should Sign This Prolific Goal Scorer?

Share

And the story keeps getting better and better, cue the end of the International break and with so much tension in the air regarding the events in Paris, it was normal service resumed for Leicester City and Jamie Vardy as the Foxes climbed to the top of the Premier League table and the striker notched up another goal. The English striker scored in his 10th straight Premier League match and matched the record set by Ruud van Nistelrooy for Manchester United.

There, however, is a difference between the goals scored by Van the Man and Vardy, while Van Nistelrooy was a great finisher, you would rarely see him run with the ball. You would provide him with the chance and he would finish it with aplomb. Vardy though uses his pace and control to blow past defences and this season he seems to have an eye for goal, almost robot-like in his finishing.

He could set a Premier League record next week as Leicester take on Manchester United at home. It would be fitting that Vardy does break the record against the Premier League’s greatest team, but there could be bigger news for the striker. If he continues his scoring form, bigger teams will come for him and who wouldn’t want to turn up playing for one of the ‘Big Four’? We look at what each of

Arsenal

Giroud

Well, the Gunners have been looking for a striker to put the pressure on Olivier Giroud. Playing Theo Walcott in that role did provide dividends but injuries are an eternal problem for the Gunners. Giroud has scored 9 goals for the Gunners this season, but he is a bit hit and miss. If Vardy is to join them, he could give them more pace upfront plus he seems to be a better finisher than the Frenchman at the moment. Vardy wouldn’t cost all that much either if he does make the move away from Leicester but would he be willing to sit on the bench for the Gunners?

Arsene did sign Danny Welbeck from one of their rivals, Manchester United and that hasn’t worked out too well for him with Welbeck spending a lot of time on the treatment table. Vardy though seems to be on fire and this could be akin to Robin van Persie joining Manchester United in the prime of his life, Van Persie effective helped United win the league when he joined them. Vardy could well provide that X*factor to Arsenal and help them across the line, plus his link up play with Walcott and Sanchez would be blisteringly fast.

Chelsea

Vardy has 13 goals for Leicester this season, Diego Costa, Willian and Ramires combined have 12 and they are Chelsea’s top scorers. Nothing has gone right for the team from London this season as they flounder about in 15th place in the league. This position seems a little better than last week thanks to a 1-0 win over a rather poor Norwich team.

Diego Costa

Vardy would do wonders for the Blues, he would give them energy, enthusiasm, pace and finishing, something which has gone missing for the entire Chelsea team this season. He would also be much better than the other strikers Chelsea have on their wage bill such as Falcao and Loic Remy, who seem to be forgotten men for the Blues. Vardy might be 28-years-old but he is on fire at the moment and he could be the player who turns the game around for Chelsea if they sign him in January.

Liverpool

The situation is a little different for Liverpool, the Reds have been finding their feet under Jurgen Klopp and we saw a glimpse of what they are capable of as they hammered Manchester City. Liverpool though did all the damage thanks to the movement and pressing of their forward, Roberto Firmino.

Christian Benteke

It was Benteke who did the damage in the first half and that role could well be played by Jamie Vardy. The striker has the pace to burn past defenders but is always a willing runner and can go on for miles on end, something that Klopp would love to have at his disposal. The problem lies with the number of forwards already in the team at Anfield. Vardy would have to battle with Sturridge (when he is fit, if ever), Benteke, Ings (again injured for a long time) and Divock Origi, plus Mario Balotelli could well arrive in the team next season. This looks like the least likely destination or opportunity for Vardy but would be most suited to his place style.

Manchester United

Wayne Rooney

Who would have imagined Wayne Rooney would struggle this much for the record Premier League champions? Even without Rooney, Manchester United do have a diamond in the rough with Anthony Martial but he cannot do it alone. Jamie Vardy would be perfect for Manchester United. He can play in a number of places but, of course, playing up top with Martial would be a dream for Manchester United fans and a nightmare for most defences in the league.

The pair would have incredible pace and the work done by Vardy could well help the pair score a ton of goals plus he is in that age where he wouldn’t cost a lot and in the form that he is in, he could well get better. Gary Neville certainly thinks that Vardy is a much better player compared to how raw he was last season and signing for United would be the perfect end of the fairy tale.

From Fleetwood Town to Manchester United and scoring at Old Trafford, he could score against United in the weekend and inch a step closer to a big money move to another club. Jamie Vardy is living the dream and is probably the best story to have come out of the Premier League this season, along with Leicester City’s performance.
