Arsenal secured a 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, courtesy of two penalties from midfielder Arteta. The midfield trio of Arteta, Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla had a major part in the match and especially the performance of Jack Wilshere was outstanding, Wilshere was clearly Arsenal’s most exciting player to watch. His driving runs and inch perfect passes involved was a joy as he orchestrated the Arsenal attack

Wilshere relishing his partnership with Mikel Arteta

The England International is relishing the opportunity to partner with Mikel Arteta in the heart of Arsenal’s midfield and believes that he and his two Spanish teammates, SantiCazorla and Arteta, can take Arsenal back to the top 4 slots.

Speaking to the media after the Saturday’s game Wilshere said:

Q: About the potential of his partnership with Arteta

“I think so, Especially with Santi in front of us. With him, me and Mikel, I think this midfield could really blossom in the next few months. He is great, Tactically, his positioning is the best around. He is not the biggest lad, but the amount of balls he wins in the air is good. He has adapted well. He is an older player and is great for the younger players. You can talk to him on the pitch and off the pitch.”

“I speak to him during the game. I say, ‘Mikel, if you want to go forward, I will sit’ so there is a good understanding there. He knows I want to go forward and get on the score-sheet  but he is the same. There is a bit of both, but he lets me go more than he does.”

Though the midfielder is back and playing to the level he played before his injury kicked in. Wilshere has revealed that he still needs time to gel in with the current team as the entire starting line-up has many new faces from the time he played last year.

“It is a new team from when I played before. It will still take time, and the more games we play together the better we will get.”
