Is Liverpool Missing The Number 9 & 10 That Could Solve Their Misery ?

Share
Is he the only answer to Liverpool in front of goal ?

Luis Suarez, Fabio Borini and Daniel Sturridge are the current set of strikers available with Liverppol’s armoury. Though Luis Suarez is wearing the number 7 jersey he is having to work as number 9 and 10 to cover up the missing pieces in the Reds attack.  His striking abilities has surely been overlooked by the neutral supporters mainly due to the other criticism he has faced. The Uruguayan with an improved goal per shots ratio could be on levels with Messi and Ronaldo.

Liverpool fans are starting to wonder who could be their new number 10, a debate which is yet to be answered by manager Brendan Rodgers. And if anyone has noted closely they could also notice that Liverpool are without a number 9 mainly due to Luis Suarez’ recent, excellent form.

But to be without another reliable source of goals is just plain idiocy. That being said, the newly recruited Sturridge and summer intake Borini cannot be faulted upon either , they can surely bring important goals to the  team but on a simple note it can easily be told if Suarez were to be injured, it is hard to see Sturridge and Borino can fill up the void that is left behind by the Uruguayan.

Can Sturridge continue to impress ?

The traditional number 9 has long gone in football nowadays. A brand of players as good as Robie Fowler and Alan Shearer are a very rare breed in modern football.

As far as, who Liverpool can bring in as their new number 9 there cant be any player who will fit in perfectly. May be the preference will go to some forward who can finish like Torres(during his time at Anfield) , someone like  Mario Gomez, Damiao, etc.

But as far as a number 10 goes there are three possible players who can fill the role perfectly. Without a doubt they’d be a long term success at Anfield, though unfortunately I believe any of the signings would be expensive. But they all meet FSG’s youth policy.

  • James Rodriguez
  • Dries Mertens
  • Julian Draxler

All 3 players are young, experienced, already performing at the top level and have world class potential. To not even attempt for their signatures would be a massive pass-up that Liverpool would forever regret.
