Full Time: Brighton and Hove Albion 1-1 Southampton

Brighton & Hove Albion came back from a goal down to rescue a point against Southampton, in gameweek 10 of the Premier League, at the AmEx Stadium, on Sunday.

The Saints were off to a great start, as they went ahead just 11 minutes into the game. James Ward-Prowse struck a brilliant free-kick that managed to hit the woodwork, only for Steven Davis to turn in the rebound comfortably to make it 1-0. Seven minutes into the second period, the Seagulls were back on level terms, as Glenn Murray headed in a Pascal Gross cross past Fraser Forster to make it 1-1.

Chris Hughton’s men were the better team in the second period and carved out chances. But they could not find the winner and had to settle for just a point from the game. They are now unbeaten in their last four games at home in the league and here’s how the Brighton players fared on the day.

Brighton Player Ratings

Matthew Ryan – 5.5/10

Was beaten all ends up by Ward-Prowse’s free-kick, leading to Davis’ goal. Distribution not always accurate.

Bruno – 6/10

Making his 200th appearance for the club, the 37-year old stuck to his task, without particularly standing out.

Shane Duffy – 6.5/10

Was solid at the back and won the most number of headers on the day (8). However, he missed two great chances on either side of half-time to find the back of the net. Booked.

Lewis Dunk – 6.5/10

Fairly assured at the back alongside Duffy in the heart of the defence. Passed well from the back.

Gaetan Bong – 6/10

Won the most tackles in the game (6) and was fairly solid at the back, without really having an impact going forward.

Dale Stephens – 6.5/10

Kept thing ticking in the midfield, attempted the most passes in the game (74) with a brilliant accuracy of 92%. Made 4 tackles as well.

Davy Propper – 6/10

Headed straight at the Saints’ goalkeeper in the first-half, from a free-kick situation. Looked to drive forward from the middle of the park.

Anthony Knockaert – 7/10

Always a danger with his link-up play and deliveries into the box. Created a number of chances and was involved in the lead up to the equaliser.

Pascal Gross – 7.5/10

Was a constant threat with his movement and always tried to make things happen. Brilliant delivery for Murray’s goal in the second period. Now directly involved in 7 of Brighton’s 10 league goals this season.

Jose Izquierdo – 6/10

Sent one very dangerous cross, which Knockaert failed to make the most of. Tried hard all game to make things happen, before being subbed off.

Glenn Murray – 7/10

Rose above Cedric brilliantly to head in the equaliser in the second period. Was a handful at the top of the line with his physical approach. Booked.
