Liverpool Player Ratings vs Napoli: Here’s how the Reds fared

Liverpool were unable to hold their nerve as Napoli ultimately found the back of the net through Lorenzo Insigne, who slotted home from close range after being teed in by Jose Callejon. The Reds were deservedly beaten on the night and are now winless in 3 games in all competitions.

Napoli dominated the midfield throughout the game and the Reds’ famed front three failed to click. Klopp will definitely want a better performance from his side when Manchester City visit Anfield this weekend.

Liverpool Player Ratings

Alisson Becker (8/10)

Once again, the Brazilian was splendid in goal and made a number of vital saves. He was unable to do anything about the stoppage time goal but if not for Alisson, Napoli would have scored more.

Alisson

Trent Alexander-Arnold (6/10)

Was often caught high up the field as Napoli threatened on the counter. Arnold failed to offer much going forward.

Virgil Van Dijk (7/10)

The Dutchman rarely made any mistakes as usual and put in a strong performance. However, Insigne made the run behind him and scored the winning goal.

Joe Gomez (7/10)

Gomez was also impressive on the night but was unable to do anything about the goal.

Andrew Robertson (6/10)

For once, Robertson seemed slightly off and gave away the ball on one or two occasions. He didn’t offer anything going forward as well.

James Milner (6/10)

Toiled hard but was reckless with a few challenges that earned him a needless yellow card.

Andrew Robertson

Georginio Wijnaldum (6/10)

Not the best performance from Wijnaldum as well who did well to keep possession in the middle of the park but failed to distribute going forward.

Naby Keita (4/10)

Was unfortunate to be taken off early due to a back problem. Keita’s absence brought a loss of dynamism in the midfield.

Mohamed Salah (4/10)

The Egyptian looks a shadow of his old self and barely threatened on the night. Not only did he give away the ball on a few instances, but Salah couldn’t even manage an effort on target.

Roberto Firmino (6/10)

The Brazilian did his bit defensively and managed to pick out a couple of good passes in the final third. But he too failed to threaten going forward.

Sadio Mane (5/10)

Mane seems to have tailed off slightly after making such a bright start to the season. He seemed completely out of sync with the other two in this game.

Substitutes

Jordan Henderson (5/10)

Came on for Naby Keita and was fruitful with his range of passing.

Fabinho (5/10)

The Brazilian was crisp with his short passing but was unable to assert his influence on the game.

Daniel Sturridge (N/A)

Was brought on too late and barely had a say.
