Burnley vs Manchester City predictions: Manchester City line-up
A well deserved 2-0 win against Manchester United in the derby took Manchester City a step closer to retaining the Premier League title. However, Pep Guardiola’s side should continue their winning streak to keep Liverpool away from the top of the table.
The Cityzens travel to Turf Moor to take on a Burnley side who have been in brilliant form. The Clarets did well to hold Chelsea to a draw on Monday and they won’t be an easy side for City to beat at the weekend.
Team News
Kevin de Bruyne is still unavailable after the injury he suffered against Tottenham last weekend and Claudio Bravo is ruled out as he has been for most of the season.
Fernandinho hobbled off with an injury against United and he is a massive doubt for the game on Sunday.
Probable Manchester City XI
Formation: 4-3-3
Manager: Pep Guardiola
Ederson (GK)
Claudio Bravo’s absence has made Ederson an ever-present in City’s side in all competitions and he is a sure starter on Sunday.
Kyle Walker (RB)
The Englishman has been a consistent performer for Manchester City since his arrival from Spurs and he is expected to continue in his preferred right-back role against Burnley.
Vincent Kompany (CB)
The skipper proved his worth yet again with a clean sheet against their arch-rivals and he should retain his place for the game on Sunday.
Aymeric Laporte (CB)
The Frenchman’s performances this season have been nothing but exceptional and he has been one of the main reasons why City have been sound at the back. He is expected to partner Kompany against the Clarets.
Benjamin Mendy (LB)
Injuries have kept him away from the action for most of the season but when fit, Mendy is a dangerous player to contain and he should start against Burnley on Sunday.
Ilkay Gundogan (CM)
The German has been an integral part of Guardiola’s system and has done well in Fernandinho’s absence before. He should start again at the weekend.
David Silva (CM)
One of City’s best players in recent years, Silva’s creativity will be massively important, especially in de Bruyne’s absence.
Bernardo Silva (CM)
City’s standout performer this season and one of Guardiola’s most trusted men, Silva should be brought back into the midfield to help his namesake create chances for the attackers.
Leroy Sane (LW)
The German hasn’t had the game time that he did last season but his introduction off the bench on Wednesday got City their second goal. He deserves a start on Sunday.
Raheem Sterling (RW)
Sterling’s improvement under Guardiola over the last 3 seasons have been astronomical and he is now a forward who terrorises the defence. He should continue his fine form against the Clarets on Sunday.

Gabriel Jesus (ST)
After two starts in five days, Sergio Aguero should be given a breather and Jesus is a worthy replacement who will be looking to make his mark.
