Liverpool vs Barcelona predictions – Liverpool line-up

Liverpool have a mountain to climb after the 3-0 defeat at the hands of Barcelona in the first leg. The Reds will have their fans to back them to stage an extraordinary comeback in the reverse fixture on Tuesday.

The Reds had a difficult outing against Newcastle on Saturday but the prospect of a place in the final of the Champions League should be enough motivation for Jurgen Klopp’s side to bring their A-game on Tuesday.

Team News

The Reds lost Naby Keita in the first leg, who along with Adam Lallana will miss the game against the Catalans on Tuesday.

Liverpool could also be without Mo Salah, who suffered a head injury at the weekend, and also Roberto Firmino, who has been suffering from a groin problem.

Probable Liverpool XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Jurgen Klopp

Alisson (GK)

The Brazilian had no chance to deny any of Barcelona’s three goals last week but he needs to be at his best to help side stage a comeback.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)

The youngster missed the away leg last week but he has been in exceptional form and should start on Tuesday.

Joel Matip (CB)

One of Liverpool’s most underrated performers this season, Matip has been very important in their defence and he has to start against Barca.

Virgil van Dijk (CB)

The Dutchman will have to be at his absolute best to keep out Lionel Messi and co.

Andy Robertson (LB)

Arguably the best full-back in England this season, Robertson’s crosses from the left flank will be of massive importance and he should start.

Fabinho (CDM)

The Brazilian has settled in well after a tough start to life in England and he should start again.

Jordan Henderson (RCM)

The skipper was arguably Liverpool’s best player at Camp Nou and he deserves to start again.

James Milner (LCM)

Injuries to Naby Keita and Adam Lallana will give Milner a chance to start on Tuesday and he should use all his experience to help Liverpool turn the tie around.

Xherdan Shaqiri (RW)

Salah’s injury could open the door for the former Bayern Munich man and he will have tough shoes to fill against a brilliant Barca side.

Divock Origi (LW)

The Belgian scored the winner against Newcastle on Saturday and he will now have a massive opportunity to show Jurgen Klopp what he is capable of.

Sadio Mane (ST)

Injuries to Salah and Firmino will increase the responsibility on Mane’s shoulders and the Senegalese international has already proved his ability to make an impact against the bigger teams this season.
