Barcelona opinion: Should Barca go for Lacazette?

According to a report from Metro, Barcelona are weighing up a £70m move for Alexandre Lacazette. The Arsenal striker has been in great form since his move to the Emirates stadium in 2017.

Lacazette’s brilliant run of form with the Gunners

The French man has lived up to his reputations since day one with the Gunners. He, in fact, ended his first season with 17 goals and Community Shield glory.

Lacazette has garnered a 26-goal haul this season, eventually winning the Gunners’ player of the year award.

Alexandre Lacazette

The Former Lyon man has been outstanding in the Europa League so far, as his wonderful free-kick against Napoli saw Unai Emery’s men entering into the semi-finals.

He also scored a brace in last week’s semi-final first-leg against Valencia, giving his side an edge with an aggregate score 3-1.

Barca should strengthen their attacking prowess

Despite clinching the La Liga title this season, the Catalan club’s attack hasn’t been free-flowing unlike they were in the previous seasons.

For most of the times, Ernesto Valverde was pushed to the situation where he completely relied on talisman Lionel Messi. Indeed, the Argentine was instrumental behind the club’s successful run this season.

Luis Suarez has been struggling for form this season

Meanwhile, Luis Suarez hasn’t been at the best shape this season, showing real signs of rustiness. And his scoring rate has gradually declined than that of the previous seasons.

And the Club’s expensive buys Phillipe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele couldn’t contribute much to the team’s success with the former one stumbling to find his feet, while the latter has become an injury-prone.

Regardless of these snags, the Blaugrana were able to weather the storm and reach the Champions League semi-finals.

Lacazette could be a feasible solution for Barcelona even if is not on a permanent basis.

How Lacazette could fit in Valverde’s side

The Frenchman’s versatility up in front is one of the big advantages. He has embraced both the roles of winger and striker. Furthermore, Lacazette’s dribbling skills, précise passing technique and most importantly an eye for goals make him a perfect fit for the Spanish giants.

Conclusion

Earlier, the Blaugrana tried to follow through with the transfer of Atletico Madrid talisman Antoine Griezmann, who snubbed the deal last season.

Now, Barca can turn their attention towards his fellow Compatriot Lacazette, whose price tag also seems quite reasonable.
