Predicted Burnley Line-up To Face Liverpool In The Premier League

Burnley will embark on a trip to Anfield this weekend, as they gear up to take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool on Saturday, in match-week 5 of the Premier League.

The Clarets have had an impressive start to the new season and find themselves in the 7th position in the league table after four rounds of fixtures, one place ahead of their weekend opponents, having accumulated 7 points. Sean Dyche’s side come into the game on the back of a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace and will be looking to do some damage against the Reds, whose defensive frailties have been laid bare this week – first by Manchester City and then by Sevilla.

Team News

Skipper and No.1 choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton will miss out after undergoing a surgery on his dislocated shoulder. Deadline day signing Nahki Wells still remains sidelined due to an ankle problem, while Dean Marney too is unavailable.

Here’s how Burnley could take the field on Saturday against the Merseysiders:

Manager: Sean Dyche

Formation: 4-4-2

Nick Pope (GK)

The 25-year old made his Premier League debut for Burnley last weekend, replacing the injured Heaton and he impressed. Should start the game, with the captain set for a lengthy layoff.

Matthew Lowton (RB)

With Heaton out, right-back Matthew Lowton is expected to lead the team on Saturday. Has been a consistent performer, but will have his task cut out against a dangerous Liverpool attack.

Matthew Lowton

James Tarkowski (CB)

Had a stellar outing against Palace last weekend and will hope to continue from where he left off. However, Liverpool will pose his biggest test of the season so far.

Ben Mee (CB)

Another solid performer in the backline for the Clarets, the former Manchester City academy man will partner Tarkowski in the heart of the defence.

Stephen Ward (LB)

Is a more than handy outlet down the left-hand side, but will be given a stern test by Liverpool’s record signing Mohamed Salah.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson (RM)

After an injury-ridden first season, the Icelander is starting to show what he is capable of and will start down the right flank.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson

Jack Cork (CM)

The summer signing from Swansea City has had a great impact since his arrival. Has made the Burnley midfield more resilient and is a definite starter.

Steven Defour (CM)

The Belgian midfielder has worked his way back into the team this term, after a disappointing season last time around. Should partner Cork.

Robbie Brady (LM)

The Irishman has started off the season well and his link-up play with international teammate Ward down the left flank is an exciting feature of Burnley’s game this season. Should retain his place in the line-up.

Chris Wood

Sam Vokes (ST)

At the top should be Sam Vokes. The 27-year old netted twice against Chelsea on the opening day and would love to repeat something similar against the Reds.

Chris Wood (ST)

Partnering Vokes in attack should be club-record signing Chris Wood. The Kiwi striker has scored two goals in two Premier League appearances already and looks like a great buy. Will pose a huge threat.
