Huddersfield’s Signing Spree Shows The Club Is Making All The Right Noises In The Transfer Window – Agreed?

Why Huddersfield Are Making All The Right Noises In The Transfer Window

Huddersfield, fresh from their historic promotion to the Premier League, face the realisation that they are the odds-on favourites to be relegated after just one season at the top.

They knew fine well the task facing them and that, despite a wish to keep the majority of last season’s solid squad together, they needed to strengthen in a big way in order to survive.

It has to be said though; they have made a very good start in the market! Elias Kachunga’s loan from Ingolstadt has been made permanent, the impressive Scott Malone has signed from Fulham and will prove to be a good attacking full-back in the Premier League and new centre-forward Laurent Depoitre has arrived from Portuguese giants Porto.

It doesn’t stop there! The excellent Aaron Mooy has signed permanently from Man City and will drive their midfield next term and the signings of winger Tom Ince from Derby and striker Steve Mounie from Montpellier could be a great combination. Denmark defender Mathias Jorgensen has arrived as well.

Kasey Palmer has been signed on loan from Chelsea and Reading’s American international Danny Williams has arrived on a free transfer, this on top of a loan for Mainz’s Danish ‘keeper Jonas Lossl.

David Wagner and the Huddersfield board have been ruthless so far and rightly so. Yes, last season’s squad will be fondly remembered and a number of them will be given the chance to shine in the Premier League but there is no room for sentiment here.

Reinforcements were obviously needed and the Terriers have done well to bring in the sort of quality they have done. At this moment in time, they could line-up like this: GK: Jonas Lossl, RB: Tom Smith, CB: Chris Schindler, CB: Michael Hefele, LB: Scott Malone, CM: Danny Williams, CM: Aaron Mooy, RW: Tom Ince, CAM: Kasey Palmer, LW: Elias Kachunga, ST: Steve Mounie.

That line-up, in a 4-2-3-1 formation, looks really solid already and remember that the likes of Chris Lowe, Philip Billing, Nahki Wells, and Laurent Depoitre will all be waiting in reserve.

More signings will surely follow for Huddersfield Town in the coming weeks so watch this space. For me, Burnley, Stoke City and especially Watford are all vulnerable next season and so despite being newly promoted, Huddersfield’s transfer window work so far has given them a huge chance of retaining their Premier League place.
