Karlan Grant signing could open up goal-scoring floodgates at Huddersfield

According to reports from Plymouth Live, Charlton Athletic striker Karlan Grant has triggered interest from a variety of higher division clubs including Premier League strugglers Huddersfield Town.

Huddersfield Town are currently collectively facing a massive crisis as a football club because of various factors not just limited to the resignation of David Wagner as manager and their current position in the league table.

With 23 games behind us, the Terriers find themselves 20th with just 11 points on the board. While that statement alone must be worrying enough, the fact that they have scored only a meagre 13 goals all season is an absolute disgrace.

Irrespective of whether it is a newly promoted side or not, there is a certain standard of football that is expected from a Premier League side and unfortunately for the Terriers, they haven’t been able to get anywhere near that.

With a team that has really struggled in all aspects for 23 games this season, aiming to try and remain in the English top-flight could be a near impossible task. But a team like Huddersfield, who have nothing to lose, must go for it.

The first thing to do is to somehow open up the floodgates and let the goals start flowing. With quality players like Sam Billing and Aaron Mooy available in midfield, the addition of a prolific goal scorer will portray a completely different Terriers side.

With reports suggesting a move for Charlton forward Karlan Grant may be on the cards, Huddersfield fans will be hopeful that the English forward is able to come into the side and actually make a difference in whatever time is left in this Premier League season.

Already 10 points off 17th places Newcastle, Grant will have to come in and pick up exactly where he left off at Charlton because Steve Mounie and Laurent Depoitre haven’t been able to deliver the goods on a consistent basis.

Grant has scored 14 goals in League 1 this season while he is very much a presence in their top-scorers race involving a couple of other star strikers as well. His brilliant movement in the box makes him a very deadly striker who if given space, has the power and finesse to finish any shot.

While he is tall, it doesn’t deter with his pace because he’s as much a threat with his feet as his head and could end up making the ideal Premier League striker. His presence is needed badly at a Huddersfield side who are now managerless if they still have hopes of retaining their Premier League status.
