According to the Daily Mail, Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Arsenal’s under-fire manager Unai Emery.
Spaniard Emery has come under the scanner after a string of poor displays by the Gunners this season. After failing to win any of their last five league matches, Arsenal are currently struggling at 8th place in the table.
Nuno, meanwhile, is a happy man, as his Wolves side are sitting comfortably at 5th place after a rather slow start to the season.
The Portuguese-led side are now on an 8-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.
Since arriving at the Emirates last year, Emery has failed to deliver a major trophy and hasn’t secured qualification for the Champions League either.
It looks more of the same this year considering the Gunners’ performances on the pitch. Also, the fans have been crying for his ouster for quite some time now, according to Daily Mail.
Nuno, on the other hand, had built a good reputation for himself after helping Wolves achieve Premier League promotion, by winning the Championship in the 2017/18 season.
It was a double joy for Nuno when his Wolves finished 7th in their first season back in the top-flight and at the same time qualified for the Europa League.
All said and done, lets now take a look at how Arsenal could line-up under Nuno Santo if Emery faces the axe.
The German remains the undisputed first-choice keeper at the club, and Nuno will mostly prefer the 27-year old, who has 2 clean sheets this season.
A hard-working full-back, Bellerin can make good use of his pace and technical abilities while playing a little up front.
He has been marred by injuries this season, however, his maturity and reading of the game gets him a spot in the side.
The Brazilian has ample experience under his belt and is good in the air. He can also initiate attacks from the back.
Probably the most solid among the Arsenal defenders, but inconsistent. A traditional centre-back, he can dispossess opponents with ease.
The young Scotsman has been impressive in recent times and offers good pace on the flanks. He also possesses good crossing abilities.
The 20-year has been a regular this season, with his consistent displays. Has shown character and maturity at such a young age.
The Uruguayan can offer much-needed stability in the middle of the park, and could often link up the game between defence and attack.
Definitely a talent, although he has still struggled to adjust to the English conditions. Has a lot of tricks up his sleeve and has a dangerous left foot.
The Frenchman is a prolific goal-scorer and gets going when in form. Injuries have affected his game this season, but a sure choice in any team.
Arsenal’s go-to man and top-scorer this season. He has good pace and excellent finishing skills. Has played on the flanks before.
