Premier League Team Of The 2017/18 Season

Just like every season, the Premier League has lived up to the billing this season too as we have seen some incredible goals, intense clashes and moments of pure magic.

The Premier League is the most thrilling and exciting of all the leagues across Europe as it has some of the world’s best players plying their trade, week in and week out.

A brilliant Manchester City side has already wrapped up the title but with the race for Europe and relegation battle intensifying, there is still a lot to play for.

As we are just a few games short of the completion of another blockbuster Premier League season, here we bring you the Premier League team of 2017/18 campaign.

PL Team Of The Season

Manager: Pep Guardiola

Formation: 4-3-3

David De Gea (GK)

Currently the best goalkeeper on the planet, David De Gea is an easy pick for the team. The Spaniard’s incredible displays between the sticks have helped Manchester United cement their spot as runners-up behind Manchester City.

He has been the standout performer for United yet again and remains a country mile ahead of the rest of the Premier League goalkeepers.

Kyle Walker (RB)

Walker has been a permanent fixture for Manchester City since joining from Tottenham Hotspur at the start of the season. His explosive displays at right-back have not gone unnoticed as the England international has improved leaps and bounds under Pep Guardiola.

An attacking right-back, Walker has significantly improved his defensive side of the game at City.

Nicolas Otamendi (CB)

Otamendi has been stellar at the back for Manchester City and has barely put a foot wrong this season. He has been an assured performer in defence with his ability to play the ball from the back being the highlight this season.

The Argentine has been strong, quick and an aggressive defender that has seen him establish himself as one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League. Barring few reckless moments, Otamendi has been at the top of his game this season and has also contributed with few goals for City.

Jan Vertonghen (CB)

Vertonghen has been colossal for Tottenham and is an easy pick for the team. A leader and an inspiring figure at the back, the Belgian powerhouse has proved to be a difficult man to beat this season. His towering and physical presence has seen him easily bully some of the Premier League’s most lethal strikers.

Alongside the young Davinson Sanchez, Alderweireld has been a rock at the back and has stepped up his game due to his compatriot Toby Alderweireld’s injury-hit campaign.

Andrew Robertson

Andrew Robertson (LB)

It took a few months for Robertson to settle down at Liverpool but once he did, there has been no looking back. Since Alberto Moreno’s injury, the Scotsman has proved that he does have the attacking zeal that Jurgen Klopp demands from his full-backs.

Fernandinho (CDM)

Fernandinho has been excellent in City’s engine room this season. He has provided a solid base for the attackers to express themselves with more freedom.

The Brazilian has kept things simple, providing the balance and the stability to his team with his ball-retention and top-tackling abilities. He has also chipped in with odd goals. Fernandinho has been a complete midfielder for City.

Kevin De Bruyne (RCM)

Kevin De Bruyne has been instrumental in Manchester City’s title-winning season. In a Manchester City team full of creative talent, the Belgian is the pivotal figure who gives urgency and elusiveness.

De Bruyne has been the player to watch this season, starting on the right-hand side of the midfield three and shuttling between the other two midfielders effortlessly. Whatever he has done this season, he has been graceful and poetic.

The Belgian has created chances after chances, has provided plenty of assists and has scored a bundle of goals.

David Silva (LCM)

Silva has been a quintessential Pep Guardiola player at Manchester City. He controls the tempo of the game and provides the calmness and stability in the midfield, which very few players are capable of doing week in and week out.

The Spaniard twists, turns, and glides past defenders with ease and often manages to light up games with his creativity and flair. He lacks pace but makes it up with his clever passing and intelligent movement. His quick skills also keep defenders on their toes.

Mohamed Salah (RW)

When Mohamed Salah signed for Liverpool last summer, very few would have predicted his impact for the Reds. However, he has defied his critics in a stunning manner, ripping apart defences and bagging goals for fun.

An extremely quick and attacking player, Salah has broken many records during his first season at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp’s expansive style of football has helped the Egyptian and he has gone on to show what he’s actually capable of.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Salah is the signing of the season.

Mohamed Salah

Raheem Sterling (LW)

Sterling has been a player reborn under Guardiola. He has been among Manchester City’s stand-out performers during their Premier League title-winning campaign and has scored 23 goals in all competitions.

The England winger has explosive pace, guile and terrific dribbling abilities that have caused mayhem among the defenders this season.

Harry Kane (ST)

One of the best strikers across Europe, Harry Kane makes it to my team ahead of the likes of Sergio Aguero, Romelu Lukaku and Alvaro Morata. Initially called a one-season wonder, Kane has once again delivered the goods for Spurs.

The England international continues to improve every season and this season has been no different.
