Cardiff face Reading in their next encounter and they must win this game to guarantee a second-place finish in the Championship table. With Premier League football at stake, their fate is entirely in their own hands. However, they have overcome tougher opposition to get them to where they are this season.
Reading come into this match fretting a little about their Championship status – they also need a win to put relegation danger out of their minds. Could be a tense affair for both of these teams as their season rides on this one result.
Aron Gunnarsson has been ruled out for the Bluebirds.
Manager: Neil Warnock
Formation: 4-3-3
The 28-year-old has had a good season for Cardiff. He always seems calms and boasts of a safe pair of hands. Will be looking for a good performance to help his side over the line.
Peltier had a good game against Hull last time out and will be looking to put in a similar defensive-minded performance.
Sean Morrison (CB)
Morrison has been absolutely fantastic all season, having pitched in some vital goals for Cardiff. He is quite solid in the centre of the defence as well. Scored twice against Hull last week and is likely to be a threat again.
The partnership between Bamba and Morrison has been absolutely excellent. He is not getting any younger but he would leap at the opportunity to play with Cardiff in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old left-back has had a good season for Cardiff and has been an ever-present force in the left-back position. He is always solid when it comes to defensive duties and also has four assists to his name.
The central-midfielder had a very good game against Hull and grabbed an important assist for the Bluebirds’ first goal. He also marshalled the midfield well, tackled excellently and allowed the Hull midfielders no space.
With Gunnarsson out injured, Warnock will be looking for someone to come in and prove themselves – and there is no one that needs to do that more than Grujic. He has shown sparks of potential but he needs to work harder to impress his parent club Liverpool.
The 23-year-old has been excellent in the centre of the midfield for Cardiff this year and has pitched in with ten goals and four assists. Will be looking to push his team over the line in this game.
Junior Hoilett (LW)
One of the stand-out attackers in the Championship this season, Hoilett always looks dangerous when running at a defence. He has contributed with nine goals and eleven assists so far.
Mendez-Laing balances the Cardiff team well on the right-wing, and often offers as much as Hoilett when going forward on the left. Will be looking to grab some goals in this game.
Zohore had a great game against Hull and is on the verge of finishing a good season strongly. Doesn’t always score goals, but he contributes excellently for his team and works incredibly hard.
