Nottingham Forest will hope to register their second victory of the 2018/19 EFL Championship season, when they take on newly promoted club Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium on Saturday.
The Reds registered their first league win last weekend, beating Reading 1-0 to add to the 1-1 draws against Bristol City and West Bromwich Albion. They are currently 5th in the table and come into the game on the back of a penalty shootout triumph in the Carabao Cup against Bury earlier this week.
There are no major injury concerns for Forest heading into the weekend encounter. Goalkeeper Jordan Smith is suspended for the game after picking up a direct red card in the cup tie against Bury.
The former Manchester City goalkeeper should return to goalkeeping duties for the league game after sitting out of the cup game during the midweek.
Tendayi Darikwa should come in at right-back for on-loan defender Sam Byram. The former Burnley man needs to put in a strong display after Byram’s impressive debut in the cup game.
The summer signing has impressed in his handful of appearances since joining this summer. A definite starter in the heart of the defence.
Partnering the Portuguese centre-half should be 32-year-old defender Danny Fox. Will look to lead his team to another clean sheet.
The versatile Englishman has impressed in the left-back role so far this campaign. Should once again feature from the get-go on Saturday.
The 32-year-old Algerian has started all three Championship games for Nottingham Forest this term. Unlikely that the streak will break this weekend.
On-loan midfielder Jack Colback has started the last two league games for the Reds and should once again feature in the line-up.
The 30-year-old summer signing scored the only goal against Reading this past weekend. Should edge out Portuguese youngster Gil Dias from the starting XI.
The 21-year-old Portuguese attacking midfielder is the primary source of creativity for Forest in the final third. A definite starter at the DW Stadium.
Another exciting young Portuguese talent at Karanka’s disposal, the Benfica loanee should start on the left flank.
