On the assumption that they will suffer no major losses (Moussa Dembele being linked with AC Milan and Chelsea, and Scotland hero Leigh Griffiths also on the radar of English clubs), Celtic’s front four could be looking very tasty next season.
Given the transfer rumours surrounding the club, here are the ideal four who could line up at Celtic Park next season and provide the Parkhead club the enviable firepower.
The young Manchester City winger has been a revelation and continues to improve hand over fist. The left-footed forward has the ability to turn full-backs inside-out and Celtic are desperately keen to bring him back to the club this summer after a successful loan period last season.
For his part, Roberts wants to attempt to impress City boss Pep Guardiola but it looks increasingly likely that there will be no place for him at the Etihad next season. So another season-long loan or better yet, a permanent transfer for the former Fulham star will be on Celtic’s immediate agenda.
My idea of last season’s player of the year in Scotland, Sinclair has found his level and has proven very dangerous in the domestic competitions. Sinclair scored 21 times in the league last time around and should continue that form next season as well. His lack of goals in Europe is a concern, but at home, he looks unstoppable.
Winger Hayes is looking increasingly likely to join the Aberdeen exodus following Ryan Jack and Derek McInnes out of the door at Pittodrie. Hayes can play on either side of the attack and while the suggestion of him joining hasn’t exactly blown up the skirt of Celtic fans, he is a thoroughly capable player.
Hayes is improving and last season, he had his best year in terms of output in the Scottish Premiership, netting 9 times in 32 games. Hayes can do a job at Parkhead, even if it is just a domestic one.
Last season’s boy-wonder can improve further and if he stays, will prove far too good for defences in this league. 5 goals in 12 European games last season prove that he can do it at the higher levels and if more silverware is going to come at Celtic Park, Dembele will be a crucial figure.
