Go for it Rodgers – Three ideal summer targets for Celtic to sign

After securing a seventh consecutive title win, and the possibility of completing the treble two years in a row, things cannot get better for Celtic on the domestic front. However, success in Europe still evades the Scottish champions and therefore, Brendan Rodgers must strengthen his side to compete with the best teams from around Europe.

With his former player Steven Gerrard getting close to becoming the new manager for Rangers, according to BBC,  here are the players Celtic must sign to impress next season.

Rhian Brewster

The Liverpool youngster has proven to be an excellent player. He played a key role in England’s Under 17 World Cup winning campaign, where he was the stand out player of the tournament. Since then, he has performed well for the Liverpool U23 side and is ready to make the step up to senior level.

Also, as per the Scottish Herald, Brewster could be moving on loan to Celtic Park. The youngster would bring in a fearless element to the Celtic attack since he has proven to be quite brave while surging forward.

Cheikhou Kouyate

With Scott Brown turning 33 this summer, Celtic will be in the market for a player who can fill his void. Although the Celtic captain is not going anywhere yet, a move for a long-term replacement would make sense. And on that front, a move for Cheikhou Kouyate could be beneficial.

Despite his inconsistent performances this season, he is a truly wonderful defensive midfielder who loves a mean tackle and has the ability to unlock attacking players ahead of him. The fact that Rodgers had tried to sign him during his time at Anderlecht means this move could make perfect sense.

John McGinn

The Hibernian midfielder could add a much-needed thrust to the midfield at Celtic Park. And his inclusion would take the pressure off Stuart Armstrong, who has had a very inconsistent season.

McGinn is a player who is ready to step up to the next level and that is something he is not able to do with the Edinburgh club. The move to Celtic would give him the opportunity to win trophies and impress on the European stage, a challenge that a player of McGinn’s quality would relish.
