Go For It Monk: This £1.7m Liverpool Ace Will Be A Shrewd Addition To Leeds United

Leeds United look good for a finish in the playoff spots in the EFL Championship this term and stand a good opportunity to get promoted to the Premier League for next season.

The Whites occupy 4th position in the Championship table, with 69 points from 38 games. With eight more games left to the end of the season, they look set to be involved in the playoffs for promotion to the English top flight.

Whether or not if they manage to get promoted to the Premier League, strengthening of the squad will be of paramount importance for Garry Monk this summer. One player who the Whites could make a move for is Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo.

The 19-year old isn’t getting enough first-team minutes under his belt at Anfield and could leave on a temporary basis in search of regular football. Leeds should definitely look to capitalise on such opportunity if presented to them.

Garry Monk doesn’t have enough quality out on the wings at his disposal. Stuart Dallas has impressed at times, but Hadi Sacko hasn’t been at his best for quite some time now. January arrival Alfonso Pedraza Sag has shown glimpses of his abilities but fellow winter arrival Modou Barrow has made no impact at all. As a result, Monk has had to utilize the likes of Kemar Roofe and Souleymane Doukara on the wings, but with no great effect.

With Sacko and Barrow both likely to return to their parent clubs Sporting CP and Swansea City respectively, when their loan deals expire, the Whites will be short on numbers.

As a result, bringing the £1.7m-rated Ojo could provide them with a quality player on the wings, who has shown his capabilities in a short time with the Liverpool first team. The England Under-19 international would be able to hit the ground running at Elland Road after loan spells with Wigan and Wolves having given him the experience in England’s second tier.

Ojo is capable of causing some serious issues to the defence with his pace and skill on the ball. He is renowned for his ability to reach the byline in a one-on-one situation and provide dangerous crosses for his teammates to finish. This could prove to be the key to getting the best out of Chris Wood in the upcoming season.

Having recovered from a serious injury in the early parts of the season, Ojo hasn’t been able to get into the playing XI at Liverpool this term. With more signings on the cards in the summer, he could find himself further down the pecking order. Leeds lack quality options out on the flanks and Ojo could prove to be a shrewd addition for the Whites, with the Premier League return in sights.
