Go for it Klopp – Why Liverpool must complete €100m deal for this hotshot Bundesliga sensation

Liverpool, under Jurgen Klopp, have revived their lost glory to a certain extent and have earned their relevance in the ‘top four’ race. They are on course to redefine themselves as title contenders and are still going strong this season despite losing superstar Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in the winter. Klopp did not bring in a replacement for the Brazilian in January and preferred to wait until the summer to acquire his preferred options.

Reports from German outlet Bild claim that Reds could spend €100m on red-hot Germany and RB Leipzig striking sensation Timo Werner. The rumour, however, has been dismissed by the reliable Liverpool Echo, who state that Klopp is unwilling to bring in another forward as he is planning to promote teenager Rhian Brewster to provide competition.

The 22-year-old Werner has emerged as nation’s main man up front and will be key to Germany’s effort in the upcoming World Cup. He led his country to last year’s Confederation Cup title. He was the top scorer of the competition. Werner is a man in form and a transfer to Liverpool would be a huge leap for the Merseysiders towards the title glory.

Werner is hailed for his great sense of positioning, goal-poaching instinct and movement in and around the box. He is not only a target man inside opponent’s territory but also offers more to a game than just goals. The Reds welcome Leipzig’s Naby Keita next season and his on-field understanding with Werner would be a massive boost for the Reds in the title challenge.

Liverpool already have Roberto Firmino as club’s No. 9 and the Brazilian is arguably the best player on the pitch in terms of overall impact. Adding Werner could see Firmino occupy the No.10 role, which would see him spend even more time in the midfield to win back possession and stride forward to operate in advanced areas.

Klopp, however, seems content with what he has formed in the Reds attacking third and wouldn’t want to alter the front trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. He might fancy Danny Ings and Dominic Solanke as the deputies of his lethal attackers.

The fans must be disheartened by Liverpool Echo’s report and may not keep their hopes high anymore but the unpredictability of the transfer window might turn things around at any moment and a plenty of plot twists are on the cards in the next few months.
