Go for it Emery – Why Arsenal must do everything to complete a £18m deal for this 26-year-old German

According to a report by The Mirror, Borussia Dortmund sensation Mario Gotze is open to the prospect of a move to the Premier League. The report further states that Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in securing his services this summer.

Arsene Wenger’s departure will bring about a new dawn at the club and with Unai Emery at the helm, things are looking good for the Gunners. While they have been pretty active in the transfer window so far, Arsenal must make a move for Gotze.

Post the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Gotze enjoyed newfound success after his exploits with Germany. The reigning world champions notched up a spectacular campaign which saw them lift the scintillating trophy and the midfielder played a key role in their successes.

Usually, such players continue on an upward trajectory in terms of their career but unfortunately for the 26-year-old, his form and development took a nosedive in the months that followed.

Plagued with injuries and a metabolic disorder, Gotze gained weight which affected his fitness to a great extent. As a result, his performances started declining and the player went through a rough patch.

The situation was rather disappointing, considering the promise and talent he had displayed in the World Cup. However, despite all the trials and tribulations, Gotze grit his teeth and fought through. Although he is back to full fitness, the German failed to secure a berth for himself in the ongoing World Cup.

Nevertheless, his skills and potential remain unquestionable. The Mirror further claims that Gotze could be available for as little as £18million, making him a viable target for Emery at Arsenal.

It goes without saying that the former Paris Saint-Germain manager will not have deep financial backing at the Emirates and hence, he should recognize this bargain and pursue Gotze.

Mario Gotze

Blessed with ample technical knowledge and fine footwork, a player like Gotze would go a long way in strengthening Arsenal’s forces in the middle of the park.

Considering the colossal task ahead of him, Emery must prioritize signing players who are proven fighters. And to that end, Gotze has certainly proven his calibre. He is a truly exceptional talent and under the guidance of the right manager, he could truly revive his career.

Also, the price tag is something Arsenal can afford right now. Given Gotze’s potential and power, this is a move Emery must definitely consider.
