Why Moussa Dembele Will Be A Great January Signing For Everton

Celtic striker Moussa Dembele has been attracting a lot of attention from English clubs and Everton have been one of the clubs linked with him. Come January, the Toffees could launch an attempt to land the player, to add some much-needed threat to their attack. Ever since Sam Allardyce took over at the club, Everton have been in decent shape after nearing relegation danger during the tenure of Ronald Koeman.

Although the former manager spent big over the summer and brought in a lot of new faces at Goodison Park, the club struggled majorly in the initial stages of the competition this time. They were staring at relegation danger but they recently managed to break into the top-10. Sitting at 9th spot, one might think Allardyce’s job is done but the club will be hoping for a higher finish and if the manager is to achieve that, they need a new striker.

One might not think they are in particular danger, considering the fact that they scored 8 goals in their last 4 matches. However, the fact remains that Everton have lacked a formidable presence up front ever since their towering striker Romelu Lukaku departed to join Manchester United.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has admirably taken up the role of a striker and has been delivering positive displays. While it is good to see the youngster doing so well, there is no denying the kind of impact Dembele could have at the club.

He joined the Scottish champions from Fulham and has managed to score 40 goals in 67 appearances for Celtic so far. Dembele’s growth has been stunted to an extent due to his hamstring issues but despite that, he has managed to score 8 times this season. As far as Everton are concerned, Oumar Niasse has been quite influential as well but Dembele would be a good option to fill the void left behind by Lukaku.

Moreover, Dembele himself could be interested in joining Everton, even more so after the club managed to pull themselves out of the relegation zone. The player will be keen on securing a spot for himself in the French squad for the upcoming World Cup and France does not lack attacking talent at the moment.

Hence, moving to Everton and playing for then could give a nice boost to his chances of getting selected, thus making it a win-win situation for everybody.

If the Toffees get a chance to sign him in January, they must most definitely go for it. Prying him away from Celtic might be an uphill task but it will certainly benefit them in terms of securing a higher finish.
