Eden Hazard’s wretched form has been one of the major reasons for Chelsea’s fall from grace this season. The Belgian has not scored a goal in the league and has assisted just 2 goals. What’s been more worrying is the ability of the opposing teams to close down his moves and restrict his impact on the game.
The Interim manager has backed Hazard for a recovery in form and has openly challenged the Belgian to have “get his ego back”.
“He had a terrific season last year and it’s also normal you can have a setback after that,” said Hiddink.
“But I think he can be a key player again.”
The 69-year old has a huge rebuilding task ahead of him with Chelsea languishing in the 15th spot, just 3 points away from the relegation zone. He will need his players, especially the likes of Hazard, Costa, Terry and Fabregas to rediscover their fine touch to ensure that his side do not have a relegation battle at hand come the end of the season. While there is no doubt about their abilities as footballers, reinstatement of their belief to be world beaters will do Hiddink’s side a world of good.
