Predicted Southampton Line-up To Face Brighton and Hove Albion In The Premier League

Southampton will travel to Brighton as they get set to embark on the south coast derby on Sunday. After defeating West Bromwich Albion, Southampton will relish the chance to face Brighton, and will be hungry to notch back-to-back victories.

There have been plenty of positives for the Saints in their previous couple of matches and they will be looking to continue the same stellar form against Brighton. The south coast derby will undoubtedly be an intense one, considering both teams are doing quite well for themselves.

Team News

The Saints have a full strength squad to choose from as they chase back-to-back wins for the first time this season. Sofiane Boufal came off the bench to net a late winner against the Baggies and he could play a similar cameo role against Brighton as well.

Here’s how Southampton might take the field against Brighton

Manager: Mauricio Pellegrino

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Fraser Forster (GK)

Forster has not been at his best lately but Pellegrino has been backing the goalkeeper to perform better, which should see him retain his usual spot.

Cedric Soares (RB)

The right-back is likely to retain his spot after showing a couple of encouraging signs in other matches.

Cedric Soares

Virgil van Dijk (CB)

The defender continues to impress for the Saints and is an important player for the side. He is likely to keep his place in the side for this Premier League game.

Maya Yoshida (CB)

Yoshida proved to be quite solid at the back, which should see him earn his spot beside Virgil van Dijk in the heart of Southampton’s defence.

Ryan Bertrand (LB)

Bertrand could return to the side as McQueen filled the void at left-back for a couple of matches.

Mario Lemina (DM)

Lemina has been putting up all-action performances of late, by equally contributing to both defence and attack, which should see him earn a place in the starting XI.

Ryan Bertrand

Oriol Romeu (DM)

His previous couple of displays were frustrating, to say the least. However, Pellegrino is likely to let him retain his usual position.

Nathan Redmond (LW)

The youngster did go off-track but he has pulled his socks up quite well. His attacking plays have been crucial for Saints’ goals, making him a likely candidate to start.

Steven Davis (CAM)

Impressive performances in the previous couple of matches should see Davis become an important player against Brighton.

Dusan Tadic (centre)

Dusan Tadic (RW)

Tadic’s creativity will be vital going forward, thus likely to earn him a spot in Pellegrino’s starting XI.

Manolo Gabbiadini (CF)

The player has been a revelation up front for Southampton. If they are to take anything away from the game, Gabbiadini’s goals will certainly be a major aspect.
