According to reports, Premier League champions Chelsea and their manager Jose Mourinho have been given a welcome vote of confidence from Dutch international Wesley Sneijder, who is at present with Turkish outfit Galatasaray. The 31-year-old attacking midfielder was forced out of Inter Milan due to his high wages and now plays in Turkey.
The former Ajax and Real Madrid star worked with the Portuguese manager at the Serie A side and the were close, as the Dutch attacker played some of the best football of his career during that time. Mourinho’s Inter were quite successful during his short spell in Italy, as they won the Champions League, a trophy Inter have been nowhere close to winning again since the manager’s exit to Real Madrid.
Though his former boss is at present in a turmoil at Stamford Bridge, Sneijder has come out and supported him, as he spoke to O Jogo saying, “Mourinho deserves more respect, it would be a mistake to fire him. People love it when he fails… but for what he did in every club where he worked, he deserves respect. It’s difficult when you lose when players are not one hundred percent fit, but he will react. That’s why Chelsea won’t let him go: he’s the only person able to react and to get it back.“
