Forget Vidal, Three Reasons Why Manchester United Should Sign This Talented German For £16m

Reports have emerged that Borussia Dortmund are looking to sell Gundogan instead of losing him for free when he’s out of contract next summer. He has a contract with the German club till 2016 and is likely not to extend it and has also expressed his desire to play in England.  Louis van Gaal is interested in bringing the midfielder to the Old Trafford to bolster his team. Here are 3 reasons why he should be seriously pursued and signed when he is available for a very reasonable amount.

Gundogan needs to revive his career and United would be the best place for him.

The German has had issues with fitness following injuries and has been out of touch with the game. He didn’t feature in the world cup and is currently in a team that is certainly not doing well on its own so as to put him out of his pressure.

Manchester United need a player like him to run the game as a box to box player. Man Utd have done great in the league so far compared to their struggles last season where they finished outside of the top four. Gundogan will find time to recover and get back to his best in a club that won’t put pressure on him and with United certain to qualify for next year’s Champions League, the German can add to the much needed squad depth.

Manchester United won’t get a better deal than this.

Apparently he is available for only £16m, which is a serious bargain considering how costly he was just before his injury struggles. Other players of similar type and talent will cost way more and we know that Gundogan is as talented as anybody and can be one of the best in midfield. Buying him now or in the summer will be a good way to ensure the team of a good deep seated playmaker. Man Utd don’t have much competition for his signature as of now but he may well be courted by many other clubs in the summer and the Red Devils  won’t want to miss out on that.

He’s a player who’s expressed desire to play in the Premier League and would fit United’s tactics.

The fact that Gundogan is a hardworking central midfield player, who can play both defensive or attacking midfield means he’s an asset for the team. Considering Man Utd’s real top central midfield players,  there are Blind and Carrick for defensive midfield  and Herrera who is a real central midfielder dedicated for offensive duties. They don’t really have a class box to box technically gifted midfielder. Gundogan will provide Di Maria the license to move forward without  worries and would form a good pivot partnership with any other central midfielder as well.
