Former champions of England, Chelsea will possibly have to wait till the end of the transfer season, as they look to bring ex striker Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge this summer. It seems that though the Belgian international has decided to leave Everton behind as he looks to join a bigger club, he is stalling a deal with the west London outfit for now.
Recently it was also stated in a report that the Londoners had made no official bid to buy the Toffees’ star in the current transfer window.
Due to this Antonio Conte’s side have already started looking for potential alternatives to the attacker and will now look to sign an alternative to their initial target, though they already added Michy Batshuayi to their squad some time ago.
Here are three strikers that the Blues can possibly sign in the upcoming days, in place of Lukaku, who is rather indecisive at the moment:
With the former Juventus boss having the option of playing Batshuayi up front and Diego Costa possibly being offered to Serie A giants Inter Milan and Napoli, there is a need for a backup striker. There is no doubt that Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge is a really talented striker, though his problems with injury have halted his progress over the past few season. He looked sharp in the Euros for England, though, is once again facing some concerns over his future at Anfield, due to his time on the sidelines and now the fans have started getting vocal about selling him.
He could come in handy for Chelsea if they want him back, as he can provide them some important goals during the time that he is fit, if Costa does leave. The Blues could in that case play Batshuayi as their main man up front and possibly the Reds’ star, as and when he is needed.
Another target that Chelsea were tracking was Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata, though the speculations have now died down after the champions of Europe rejected quite a few offers from the Premier League giants for their star striker. The Spanish international was part of the La Liga giants’ UEFA Super Cup side, though he failed to make a major impact on the match. If things do not change at the Bernabeu and soon, Conte might still fancy a move to get his man, though Real will not be selling him cheaply.
After the failure to sign Lukaku, Arsenal target and Inter skipper Mauro Icardi’s name has been prominently linked with a move to west London. Both the English giants are keen on signing a new striker and it seems that the 23 year old Argentine international will be the man to go to. The Gunners and the Blues know that the attacker can be a huge asset, if he agrees to move to the top flight of English football in the upcoming days.
