Three Alternatives For Mamadou Sakho Who Tottenham Can Target

Tottenham Hotspur have a busy transfer window ahead of them. Irrespective of their consistency in the league, they have not been able to take the next step for more than a year now. Pochettino is looking to improve a couple of positions in the squad and one player he wants to add to his defence line is Liverpool outcast Mamadou Sakho.

The French international had a fallout with Jurgen Klopp, who has decided to sell him this summer. According to reports, the Spurs have made an official approach for the 27-year-old who is available for £30m. However, he has managed to divide opinion among the Spurs fans, some of who do not want him at the club. So who can Pochettino look at if not for Sakho? Here are 3 alternatives for Sakho who Tottenham can look at.

Ben Gibson (Middlesbrough)

The 24-year old English defender has made more than 140 appearances for the Riverside outfit and has established himself as one of the emerging talents in England. He has earned a call-up for the English national side but is yet to make an appearance under Gareth Southgate. He was in solid form for Boro but was not able to keep them up in the top flight for another season. He will be tempted with an offer to play for one of the best clubs in the country at the moment and would be a decent alternative for Sakho.

Matthias Ginter (Borussia Dortmund)

A player constantly linked with a move to Tottenham, Ginter was in good form for the German outfit last season. However, he was not the first choice late in the season and is could quit the club for proper game time. Spurs have now made a habit signing talented youngsters, and so Tottenham would be the perfect destination for the 23-year old to establish himself at the highest level.

Harry Maguire (Hull City)

Another English star who is now relegated to the Championship is Hull City star, Harry Maguire. Having had a stellar season with the Tigers, Maguire and company could not keep them in the top flight but the 24-year old is one of the few players at the club who are attracting interests from the top flight. At his age, he will want to prove himself again in the Premier League and Spurs can provide him with the perfect opportunity next season.
