Forget Kieran Tierney – Here Are 2 Perfect Replacements Celtic Should Try To Sign If The Left-back Leaves

Andrew Robertson

Andrew Robertson

Possibly the most obvious player to replace Tierney, Robertson has publicly announced he is up for the fight of keeping his place as Scotland’s first choice left-back at the expense of Tierney himself.

Robertson already has a Celtic connection; as a youngster he played for their under-15 side but was let go before joining Queens Park. Professional spells there and at Dundee United put him at the notice of Hull City in England where he signed in 2014, so far playing over 90 games for the club.

The main reason Robertson is a perfect replacement is because of his attacking ability. Known as a left-back who can score and create goals, Robertson would definitely fill the gap left on Celtic’s left should Tierney go. He’s from Glasgow, supported Celtic as a boy and knows this league already.

The question for a player of his type these days is though; would he move back to the Scottish Premiership? In his case, it may feel like a step up to have the chance of European football and it’s not to be forgotten that Hull look increasingly like being relegated to the Championship in England.

Everything seems to fit into place with Robertson and he would be a relatively ambitious signing should Celtic look to replace Tierney with another Scottish, attacking full-back.
