Forget Kieran Tierney – Here Are 2 Perfect Replacements Celtic Should Try To Sign If The Left-back Leaves

Kieran Tierney

Celtic Can Try To Sign These Players As Replacement For Kieran Tierney

With Arsenal circling and other clubs seemingly interested too, Kieran Tierney may yet not be a Celtic player next season.

The importance of the young attacking left-back cannot be underestimated, however, neither can the fact that attracting replacement players of that quality to the Scottish Premiership is an increasingly difficult task. The league is very weak at the moment, but Celtic have the advantage of Champions League football when looking to attract new players.

With that in mind, I’ve looked at one player already playing in the division who would surely jump at the chance to step up, as well as one from elsewhere who could slot straight in with no problems:

Faycal Rherras

The Hearts left-back moved to Scotland last summer and so is aware now of what is required in this league. One could argue that, slowly but surely, Rherras is moving up the footballing ladder. Playing first of all with Vise in Belgium’s First Division B, he was transferred to Sint-Truiden who were promoted to First Division A where he played 28 games.

Moving to Edinburgh after that, the 23-year-old has become Hearts’ first choice left-back and can yet improve further. Right at this moment, he is of course not in the same class as Kieran Tierney but then the point is that Celtic probably cannot expect to replace the young Scot like-for-like and we don’t know how much more Rherras can improve.
