Tottenham Hotspur are one of the most consistent teams in the Premier League for more than a year now but they have failed to win any silverware to show off for their troubles. However, they managed to qualify for the Champions League yet again and will be looking to make some decent additions to the squad to make sure that they can compete at the highest level next season.
Mauricio Pochettino is looking high and dry for top class players who can improve the first team but Spurs are yet to make a signing this summer. They are set to lose Kyle Walker to Manchester City this summer but are sure to find an adequate replacement for the right-back.
But there are other positions in the squad that Pochettino needs to take care of and here is the most important position in the squad that the manager has to improve on this summer:
Spurs have one of the most exciting attacks in the league with the likes of Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen playing perfect fiddle to arguably the best striker in England at the moment, Harry Kane. The trio has been in sensational form for the club but Pochettino’s 4-2-3-1 system needs another winger in the attack, who can help them consistently.
The injury to their first choice star Erik Lamela meant that Pochettino had to use Heung-Min Son in this role last season. The Korean star was decent but is not expected to be the first choice next season while Lamela may also take time to adjust to the condition after almost a year-long break due to injury.
Georges-Kevin N’Koudou was expected to be the surprise package while Moussa Sissoko wrote one of the biggest flop stories of the Premier League, making Tottenham light on width in attack.
Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli can both play on the wings and Pochettino’s best bet is to find another player with similar attributes this summer. He likes of Ross Barkley, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Suso, who are all extensively linked with a move to London, are all decent options for Spurs.
Colombia international James Rodriguez could yet be a target for Spurs while the likes of Thomas Lemar, Max Meyer and Emre Mor could all be options for the club this summer. Pochettino is not afraid to give youngsters a chance in the starting XI, so it should not be too huge a problem for a relatively rich club like Tottenham.
