According to reports in the Liverpool Echo , Everton have been linked with AS Roma’s Diego Perotti. The Argentinian international has been in the Serie A for a couple of years now and is quite an experienced professional at 30.
Perotti wasn’t played much last season, appearing 15 times in all competitions and scoring 5 goals and an assist for the season.
Prior to Roma, the Argentinian international has had spells at Genoa, Boca Juniors and Sevilla. The 30-year-old is a tricky technician, who can play as an attacking midfielder and is just as good on the wings.
He is good with both feet and is very good in tight spaces but lacks the pace today that he once had.
His versatility and experience would be a fantastic addition to any side in the Premier League. Everton have a decent first-team squad but have no recognizable quality outside the first-team.
The likes of Everton, West Ham, Wolves and Leicester will be sniffing about and hoping to take one of the top-six or top-four spots this season with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal going through transitional phases.
Everton like their contemporaries don’t have the squad to compete on all fronts and adding some quality squad depth might be more important this season than simply adding quality additions to the first-team. While the big-6 don’t always have the best first-team, they always have adequate squad depth.
Last season, Everton depended far too heavily on Gylfi Siggurdson and Richarlison to bail them out of trouble with regards to goals and creativity. They also depended far too much on Lucas Digne for creativity and will need better outlets this season.
Perotti will be looking for a new challenge himself and his performances from last season don’t reflect on him as a player. His struggles were heightened cause of Roma’s struggles last season. Perotti would be looking to reinvent himself and could very easily play ahead of the likes of Bernard and Theo Walcott.

Marco Silva must be aware of the fact that the 8th place won’t be enough next season as the Toffees are looking to break into higher places and have invested a lot in the last two seasons to achieve that.
Perotti can’t be the only addition to the side but he would be a most welcome squad addition and could have a great impact at Merseyside.
