Everton have been linked with a move for Bertrand Traore of Lyon, according to reports in the Liverpool Echo. Everton will be looking to shore up the gaps in their first-team after having a pretty strange season.
They hit the ground running at the start of the season and followed it up with a dismal run of form, but later redeeming themselves with wins against Arsenal and Manchester United.
The Toffees are trying to make waves in Europe and will have to continue improving to make that a reality. That brings them to Bertrand Traore. The Frenchman has played his part in the premier league before with Chelsea but never really did enough to force himself into their plans.
He’s had a topsy-turvy season as well, having scored 7 goals and provided 3 assists. Everton have a real need for goalscorers, with Gylfi Siggurdson and Richarlison taking the burden from their wasteful teammates.
Theo Walcott has been playing games on the right wing but the former Arsenal man has struggled to make it his own. He registered 5 goals and 2 assists, which won’t cut it for Everton next season.
The other big problem has been goals from central positions. Cenk Tosun only managed 2 goals and his deputy Dominic Calvert-Lewin managed to get a few more with 6, so that’s another position they’ll need to improve upon.
The young Englishman has done admirably but 6 goals in a season wouldn’t be enough for a side battling relegation, nevermind European spots.
Traore might allow Walcott to play more frequently in a central role, which might work, but Traore himself hasn’t racked up too many impressive stats, having scored just 7 goals and 3 assists in the league.
It’ll be asking an awful lot of Marco Silva to improve the 23-year-old but Silva has improved the careers of some of the best upcoming players in the league like Andrew Robertson, Richarlison and Harry Maguire, so there are few better to learn from.
The Portuguese has also revived the careers of Lucas Digne and Andre Gomes, who looked unrecognisable from the players that once plied their trade in Barcelona.

This would be a good move in a problematic position for the Toffees and would benefit all parties that are involved in this deal.
