The Premier League was back in action and boy did we see some amazing games in the ninth week of the competition. Jurgen Klopp’s first game in charge ended in a draw but he has time to show his worth to Liverpool fans. Arsenal and Manchester United had impressive victories but the performances of the weekend have to go with Newcastle who scored six past Norwich and Manchester City who scored five past Bournemouth.

We look back at a weekend full of goals and brilliant performances and list the best XI.

Simon Mignolet

Mignolet didn’t have the best of times with the ball on his feet but he did have two excellent saves to keep a spirited Tottenham side out. Mignolet would have hoped that this impresses new manager Klopp as he looks to help the team with better performances.

Simon Mignolet

Marcos Rojo

Rojo hasn’t had the best of seasons so far but his performance against Everton was good. The Argentine was strong in defence and also had a role to play in one of the goals for the team.

Chris Smalling

We had spoken about how Chris Smalling is getting better as the seasons go by and he was at his best as he took on Romelu Lukaku really well and ensured that United did not concede.

John Terry

John Terry might not have had a lot to do against Aston Villa but he did have a decent performance and helped Chelsea to an important victory and a clean sheet.

Hector Bellerin

The Arsenal defender had another great game against Watford, he was brilliant in defence and also made rampaging runs to give Arsenal an outlet in attack and also assisted in one of the goals in the 3-0 win over Watford.

Morgan Schneiderlin

Morgan was at his best at Everton as he ensured that the United defence do not have to worry a lot about Everton’s attack. The Frenchman also scored his first goal for the Red Devils and will hope for a similar performance next week as well.

Ander Herrera

Ander Herrera

The other United player from midfield in the list, Herrera was incredible for Manchester United and provided a master class in midfield as he scored once to ensure United win 3-0 at Everton.

Georginio Wijnaldum

The star of this game week, Wijnaldum not only helped Newcastle to an important victory but he scored four goals, becoming one of a handful of players to achieve this feat in the Premier League. We had stated that Wijnaldum would be one of the players to keep an eye on this season and well, he is proving most of us right.

Moussa Sissoko

Newcastle’s other great player from an important victory, the pressure is off the team and Moussa deserves a lot of credit. He was excellent against Norwich and had four assists to his name; hopefully he can continue his form and push Newcastle away from the relegation zone with another win next week.

Raheem Sterling

The English attacker showed just what he is capable of when he scored thrice for Manchester City, who were without Sergio Aguero and David Silva. Sterling proved that he can be the player when City need him and will hope for more in the upcoming games.

Raheem Sterling

Jamie Vardy

The season keeps getting better for the English striker, Vardy continued Leicester’s great start by scoring twice to help them get a 2-2 draw away at Southampton and also shot him to the top of the Premier League’s goal scoring charts.
