Enough is enough – 3 players Crystal Palace should axe from the team including this De Boer signing

Here Are 3 Players Who Crystal Palace Should Axe In The Summer

Seven games played and 0 points earned – this was how Crystal Palace started their 2017/18 campaign under manager Frank De Boer.

Failing to impose his style of play, De Boer was sacked and replaced by Roy Hodgson. After Hodgson’s arrival, Palace have shown fight and grit in every game they have played. Although they have continued leaking goals, the players haven’t given up and the determination has seen them secure their top-flight status.

With a comeback 2-1 win last weekend at Stoke, Palace achieved Premier League safety but cruelly relegated the hosts to the Championship. For doing the job he was actually hired for, Hodgson is expected to get a good amount of funds to spend in the summer in order to strengthen his side. But the veteran manager will have to offload a couple of players to make room for fresh faces.

Hence, here are three players Palace should sell this summer.

Jairo Riedewald

A De Boer signing, Riedewald was brought to add solidity to the Palace defence. However, he was out of the side before his Dutch compatriot was sacked last year.

The former Ajax starlet is a versatile player, capable of playing anywhere in defence and also as a defensive midfielder. However, he has simply struggled to find his feet in the Premier League. Barring a few substitute appearances under Hodgson, Riedewald has been constantly out of favour.

Given that he is just 21 and still has admirers in Europe, Palace could recoup some amount by selling him in the summer.

Damien Delaney

Delaney has hardly played football this term for the Eagles. He is set to turn 37 in July and is way down the pecking order under Hodgson.

The Irishman’s contract is up at the end of the season and Palace must offload him from their books.

Lee Chung-Yong

The South Korean is a fantastic player but has found chances hard to come by at Palace since joining from Bolton back in 2015.

Lee works hard for the team, runs all day long and chips in with the odd goal. Sadly, things haven’t worked out at Palace and a move away from Selhurst Park could be the best option for both the parties.

It would be wise from Palace’s point of view to offload the South Korean star at the end of the season.
