English Striker To Be Involved Against Burnley – Predicted Liverpool Line Up For The Weekend Game

Share

After a successful start to the season, Liverpool will now travel to Turf Moor to face the newly-promoted Burnley. Liverpool go into this match on the back of a confidence boosting 4-3 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. While Burnley will be looking for their first victory of the season after they lost in the opening weekend to Swansea by a solitary goal. Summer signing Sadio Mane is expected to miss this match after he picked up a shoulder injury in the last one. Klopp took mid-way last season and still did an incredible job of taking his team to two finals, however, this season the expectations will be bigger, given that he has enjoyed a full preseason and has brought in a host of players who will improve the team.

Even though Liverpool went behind at the Emirates, they never gave up and came back to take the lead. There were some nervous moments during the final phases of the game but Klopp would have been pleased to see how his team closed the match. Here is the predicted starting XI that Klopp might opt for on Saturday.

Goalkeeper: Simon Mignolet

With summer signing Loris Karius out with a broken hand, Mignolet will get some more opportunities to put forward his case as the number one keeper at Liverpool. Although he did concede three goals against Arsenal, it would be harsh to blame him for any of them. He will definitely start on Saturday.

Defenders: Lovren, Klavan, Milner and Clyne

With Alberto Moreno under so much pressure after another disappointing afternoon last weekend, Klopp will be wise to give some rest to the player. He will have James Milner available for selection since he has fully recovered from his injury. Clyne will slot in at right-back, While Milner will come in at left-back. Lovren and Klavan did struggle a bit against Arsenal, especially against their ferocious pace on the wings, however, with no other real options to choose from, Klopp will continue with the pair for now.

Midfielders: Can, Wijnaldum, Coutinho, Firmino and Lallana

Most likely Mane will miss the match on Saturday after photos emerged of him with his arm in a sling. His place will be taken by Firmino on right-wing. The Brazilian international played as number nine in the last match but with numerous injuries in the squad, it will be wise to get him back to his natural position. On the other wing, it will Coutinho, who was the man of the match against Arsenal having scored 2 goals. Another goal scorer from the afternoon Lallana will continue in the number 10 role. Can will come into the side to shore things up in central midfield. He will partner Wijnaldum in the centre.

Striker: Sturridge

With Firmino most likely looking set to return to midfield for the next match, Klopp might be pushed into picking Sturridge for the next match. The English international has been missing from action due to injury but reports have emerged that he is fit and ready for selection.
